Today is an exciting day at Ball Camp Baptist Church. As you read this, we have a music team of eight in the mid-Atlas mountains of Morocco working with children. They go for us to be the presence of Christ and share His love. They will see new sights, taste new flavors, and smell some unique aromas; but more than anything, they will experience a land that is hungry for God’s grace and mercy. Lift them up in prayer each day as they seek to share that grace and mercy.
Before this day is over, we will have a team of nearly 20 people in Louisiana,. They will be repairing homes damaged by hurricane Katrina. They too will experience new sights and sounds; but more than anything they will encounter people who are in need of God’s mercy and love. Pray for them as they seek to be Christ’s presence to people who had their lives turned upside down by this storm.
We are also in the middle of nominating a Pastor to Students Search Committee. If you have not submitted your nominations, please do so. As we anticipate the fruitful work of this committee, we need to be praying for the person that they will recommend to us as our new Pastor to Students. How exciting it is to think about what God has in store for our young people.
By the way, did you know that our youth left church Wednesday night to go downtown and feed the homeless? We need to be grateful to parents and Youth Leadership Team members for providing direction during this interim time. With their leadership and the commitment of young people, some hungry folks were able to glimpse the presence of Christ.
The excitement I feel this morning comes from being a part of a church that is committed to sharing Christ’s love to the ends of the earth. Whether it is inner-city Knoxville or Ain Leuh in Morocco, Ball Camp is there to do the Great Commission. Whether it is a construction site in Louisiana or an orphanage in North Morocco, Ball Camp is there being the presence of Christ to the least of these our brothers and sisters.
Thank you for all you do to make Ball Camp a wonderful place to follow Jesus.
Joy and Peace, Ed
