Today we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. As for followers of Christ, today is our most holy of days. In a word, today is about life. It is about the possibility that belongs to each of us to experience life as God intended for us to. Easter offers to us life that is hopeful, life that is abundant, life that is eternal and life that is connected to the ongoing activity of God and God’s creation. Easter is about incredible possibilities and unexpected happenings. If God raised Jesus Christ from the dead — and God did just that — then who knows what else God might do? Who knows what else God might do in your life?
When we think about the love that God has for each of us and the forgiveness that God offers to us in light of resurrection, we catch a glimpse of the abundance of the life to which God invites us. On the cross, God in Christ says to all of us, “I love you,” and “I will forgive you.” The empty tomb is the exclamation point in human history that loudly proclaims, “There is hope; there is always hope.” What a life! When we realize that God offers that life to us, freely and without condition, we can easily be overwhelmed by it. The truth of the matter is that God wants nothing more and nothing less than an intimate love relationship with each one of us.
For many, that relationship defines who we are and who we want to be. In Christ, we discover freedom, grace, wholeness, mercy, and a host of other experiences that cannot be found anywhere else, with anyone else. Our lives have purpose, meaning, ad depth because we have yielded them to God — because we have joined them with the Risen One.
In light of that reality, what better way to celebrate the resurrection than by extending the invitation to others. What better response to the life that Christ gives to us can we have than to invite others to that same life.
Please join me this Easter season in celebrating the resurrection by extending an invitation to life to those who have yet to experience the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ that we have found in Him at Ball Camp Baptist Church.
Joy and peace,
Ed
